County Wicklow Partnership (CWP) have announced that they are seeking expressions of interest from community groups and individuals who wish to avail of a €1 million budget that is being allocated for community initiatives and projects and biodiversity projects which includes walking trails and other rural recreation projects.
This call is part of the LEADER Rural Development Programme which has a budget of €4.7 million to be spent on enterprises and communities in county Wicklow. The LEADER programme presents a unique opportunity to the people of Wicklow to play an active part in developing the economy and communities of the county using a bottom-up approach.
Wicklow Local Community Development Committee (LCDC) in partnership with CWP has responsibility for the delivery of the new LEADER Programme in the county under the remit of the Department of Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural & Gaeltacht Affairs.
In order for projects to be considered for funding, applicants must complete a competitive two stage application process:
- Complete an “Expression of Interest” form to determine if the proposal meets the objectives of the Wicklow Local Development Strategy and complies with the LEADER Programme Operating Rules.
- Applicants that are successful at Stage 1 will be invited to submit a full application with detailed costings and a business plan
