Let's Develop our Vision for Community Wellbeing in West & South Wicklow

Town/Location:
Hollywood & Carnew

Co Wicklow PPN is asking community groups in the west and south west of the county to develop their vision for rural Wicklow.

Seamus Boland, CEO of Irish Rural Link will be the key speaker when Co Wicklow PPN brings together social inclusion, environment and community development groups to develop a vision for community wellbeing for the Baltinglass Municiple District. The Baltinglass MD stretches across west and south Wicklow from Blessington to Carnew.

Although we sometimes think about “wellbeing” in terms of good physical and mental health, it can also describe the wider conditions we need as individuals and communities to have a better quality of life, a healthier environment and increased prosperity. Some of these are things that we can easily measure, like the number of pre-school places, or the speed with which an ambulance can get to a sick person. Others are less easily measured, such as our pride of place, our heritage and the way in which we all look after each other. All aspects of wellbeing are connected to each other. So, for example, if we have a poor natural environment, it will affect our mental and physical health as well as our economy. Wellbeing is seen as a good measure to show how well we are doing. It can help us to monitor and identify actions that can be undertaken by local and national government as well as by communities to work towards a shared vision.

Community & voluntary groups working in the Baltinglass Municipal District are invited to come along and represent their group’s views on how the community can be made as good as it can be for this and future generations.

Meetings will take place on Tuesday 20th February at 7pm sharp in Hollywood Community Centre and on Wednesday 21st February at 7pm sharp in Carnew Community Centre. Light refreshments will be provided on both nights. For more information and to book a place contact Helen or Grainne Email: countywicklowppn@gmail.com or Tel: 087 189 5145
