HSE Specialist Smoking Cessation Service

Smoking Cessation Clinics available in Arklow and Wicklow Town.

7 out of 10 smokers say they want to quit, but it’s not that easy….. many smokers need support to help them stop.

The HSE delivers a Specialist Smoking Cessation Service providing comprehensive support to these tobacco users. This intensive service offers face-to-face behavioural support to help smokers prepare and plan their quit attempt.  The service is available free of charge to all tobacco users.

What is involved?

Individual appointments are offered to those wishing to quit. Through this support smokers are helped to increase their motivation and confidence to achieve a successful quit. HSE staff providing this service understand the effort required to quit and at all times are non-judgemental in their approach and supportive of the smoker to achieve a successful quit and healthier quality of life.

Individual appointments are offered in:

Arklow Primary Care Centre

Wicklow Primary Care Centre

Loughlinstown Primary Care Centre

Dundrum Primary Care Centre

Clients are seen by appointment only and each session lasts approximately 30 minutes

All participants who stop smoking during the programme are followed up at 3 months and again 1 year after their quit.

Support Groups are also offered, on demand, to local community organisations and workplaces.
