Shadowbox Theatre Company

Shadowbox is an inclusive international touring theatre company that works with people to create theatre from real life - beginning with a blank canvas and generating material from the group themselves. They work inclusively with actors with intellectual disabilities to create and stage theatre pieces.

In 2001 Shadowbox was the first theatre company in Ireland to establish a professional ensemble for actors with intellectual disabilities, and their ensemble has toured in Ireland and internationally, encouraging the most diverse audiences to the recognition that art is a faculty of our shared humanity - challenging them to look again and look with different eyes.

They also have a creative learning programme in theatre for groups and organisations working with people with intellectual disabilities around Ireland.
